What Is Paint Color Matching?
Color matching is getting new paint to read identical to the paint already on the car. Every vehicle has an OEM color code, but the code is only a starting point: paint fades in the sun, and the same code can vary between factory batches. We mix to the code, spray out test cards, compare them against the car in daylight, and tint the mix until it matches. Then we blend the color partway into the adjacent panels instead of stopping at the panel edge, which is how a repair disappears. Metallics, pearls, and tri-coat colors take extra care because the flake lays differently depending on how it's sprayed.
