What Is Auto Body Painting?

Auto body painting covers everything from refinishing a single repaired panel to a complete color change on the whole vehicle. The process is prep-heavy: sanding, filler work where needed, primer, then base coat for the color and clear coat for gloss and protection, all sprayed in a paint booth and cured. The booth keeps dust out of the finish and holds the temperature the paint needs to cure correctly. A repaint is only as good as the prep under it, which is where most of our hours go.

Why Is Auto Body Painting Important?

Paint is the first thing anyone sees on a car and the layer that protects the metal under it. Thin spots, bad prep, or skipping the booth shows up as orange peel, dirt in the clear, and peeling within a couple of years, especially in Florida sun. A proper base coat and clear coat job holds its gloss, protects against rust, and adds real value when you sell.

When Should You Consider Auto Body Painting?

Consider a repaint when the clear coat is peeling or hazing, when the color has faded unevenly, when rust is starting to bubble through, or when you just want a different color. Panel refinishing makes sense after any body repair. If you're restoring an older vehicle, plan the paint work after the metal work is finished.
